A serious road accident occurred on Friday on the Kanetsu Expressway in the Gunma area of Japan, involving more than 50 vehicles.
According to preliminary reports from local authorities, at least one person has died, while 26 others have been injured as a result of the chain reaction.
Images posted on social media showed thick clouds of smoke rising into the sky and several vehicles engulfed in flames, creating chaotic scenes on the highway. Emergency crews and firefighters rushed to the scene to help the injured and extinguish the fires.
Japanese authorities have launched investigations to determine the causes of the accident, while traffic on this segment of the highway has been temporarily suspended.
